Carla E. Reyes will show her work in a one-night-only art concept event to benefit a NYC after-school program, and will be featured in a documentary about the creative process surrounding the unique project.

America SCORES New York, a holistic after-school program that encourages health through soccer and literacy and self-confidence through poetry among NYC youth, asked top city artists to create a work of art inspired by one of its student’s poems. The works by 19 artists will be featured in Inspired Art, a one-night exhibition and silent auction to be held at midtown Manhattan’s Sky Room on April 27.

Carla will be one of just three artists featured in a mini-documentary about the process, including her meeting with Michael Rocha, the 12-year-old poet whose poem, “The Color Blue,” inspired her work and a visit to her studio at Brooklyn Art Studios in Greenpoint midway through the creative process.

On Wednesday, April 27th, the artists, friends and supporters joined America Scores in admiring the original works and the poems that inspired them during an evening of cocktails, music and a silent auction of the art, 33 stories up at Midtown’s Sky Room.
