Raandesk Kids, a new art program for children ages 3-5, brought to you by one of the city’s most innovative art galleries, Raandesk Gallery of Art.

logo_kids1Bring your kids to Raandesk’s exhibit space in Chelsea for a morning of hands-on fun and exploration. Each month, one of the gallery’s featured artists will introduce their favorite materials to the kids and talk about their qualities, from color and texture to where they see the materials everyday and how they are used. Then, it’s the kids’ time to explore and make their own art to take home. Parents are welcome to make art, too, or get a tour of the gallery’s newest collection by Jessica L. Porter, the gallery’s founder and director.

Raandesk Kids is a great way for families to spend a morning. The program will take place at In Good Company, 16 W. 23rd Street, 4th Floor. A nut-free snack will be provided. The cost is $25/child or $20/child for two or more kids in a family.

Raandesk Kids with Mixed Media Artist, Carla E. Reyes – March 8

personal-peace-mini-flower-garden-iii1Carla E. Reyes, painter and mixed media collage artist, will lead the first group on Sunday, March 8, from 10-11:30. Carla works with many materials from nature and will lead the group in a collage-building activity using leaves, twigs, dried flowers, pebbles, shells and more.

“I love to bring nature into my life through art,” Carla says. “This project lets kids get to know nature in a new way and then take it home with them. It will be like having a mini garden  in your own home.”
